Visa & Entry Requirements

Foreign nationals entering Korea must hold a valid passport and, when required, a Korean visa issued by an embassy or online visa system.
Many travelers can visit visa-free under bilateral or regional agreements.

1. Visa Information & Application

Visa Requirements

  • Travelers from visa waiver or exemption countries may enter Korea without a visa.
  • Others must apply for a Korean visa through an embassy or the online Korea Visa Portal.
  • Nationals eligible for visa-free entry are generally required to obtain a K-ETA (Korea Electronic Travel Authorization) prior to travel.

Overview

  • Required for travelers entering Korea visa-free.
  • Must be obtained before boarding a plane or ship.
  • Once approved, valid for three years or until the passport expires (whichever comes first).
  • The same K-ETA can be used for multiple entries during its validity period.
  • An approved K-ETA does not guarantee entry; the final decision rests with immigration officers.
